"The Government have clearly sent the message to Shell, ‘you can do whatever you want’. Fortunately due to protest, the refinery remains unconnected to the gas field. If, as Shell planned, gas had been flowing by now, we would potentially all be dealing with a gas leak and explosion.”
Mickey Coleman has announced the release of his new single Pat O’Donnell Shell to Sea. On Monday, September 19, 2011, the song will be available for purchase as a download.

Not only a timely and relevant piece of music, Pat O’Donnell Shell to Sea is well written and skillfully performed with Mickey’s usual passion and pointed honesty. More polished than the first raw cut sung by Mickey outside Castlerea Prison where Pat O’Donnell was imprisoned for protesting, the song tells the story of a Co. Mayo fisherman’s struggle to protect the land and sea where he and generations of his family have made their living and called home. The release coincides with the Shell to Sea Day of Action on September 23, 2011.
I’ve had the good fortune to hear this one and without hesitation can say it’s a winner for sure! If this song is an example of Mickey’s future direction both lyrically and musically, the best is yet to come.
