Madam, – It was with utter horror and disgust I read the transcript of the video in which members of An Garda Síochána are alleged to have joked about raping two female citizens (Home News, April 5th).
There is nothing funny or amusing about their words or actions. It shows a disregard and disrespect for Mná na hÉireann that cannot and should not be tolerated.
Is it any wonder that women don’t report sexual assaults? Or that we have such a low conviction rate for sexual assault, when this is the attitude of those tasked with protecting us? Enough is enough with this type of “joke”. – Yours, etc,
