Sligo North Leitrim Fianna Fáil TD Jimmy Devins is calling for the extension of the Corrib Gas Field to Sligo and the North West.
In the wake of a recent meeting aimed at tackling Sligo’s retail crisis, Deputy Devins has arranged for a local deputation to meet with Junior Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Conor Lenihan.
One of the suggestions that emerged from the emergency meeting was that Sligo needs to further develop natural resources.
Deputy Devins said because of the close proximity of the Corrib Gas Field to Sligo, ways of extending it for the benefit of the North West should be explored.
