Corrib gas contractors test positive for Covid-19

Three UK-based contractors who travelled to Ireland to work at the Corrib Gas terminal in north Mayo have tested positive for Covid-19.

Vermilion Exploration & Production Ireland Limited, which operates the Corrib gas field, has confirmed the positive case results this afternoon.

Three UK-based workers positive for Covid-19 at Corrib Gas field in Mayo

The company running the Corrib Gas field has confirmed that three UK-based contractors, working at the terminal in Bellanaboy in Co Mayo, have tested positive for Covid-19. 

Vermilion Exploration & Production has said the workers were among a group of 70 people engaged to carry out maintenance works at the terminal in recent weeks. All travelled here from abroad. 

The company said that it "pro-actively" tests all non-Irish contractors when they arrive in the country.

Three UK-based contractors who travelled to Ireland to work at the Corrib Gas terminal at Bellanaboy in north Mayo have tested positive for Covid-19.

Vermilion Exploration & Production Ireland Limited, which operates the Corrib gas field, confirmed the positive case results this evening. 

The company says that the individuals, all of whom were asymptomatic were tested on the same day they arrived in Ireland and restricted their movements while awaiting results. One of the positive cases was returned earlier this week and two were confirmed today.

The refinery owner Vermilion Exploration & Production Ireland Ltd has confirmed that it is re-testing all 70 specialist workers, who had been engaged for essential maintenance works at the Bellanaboy refinery.

Three British-based contractors employed on the Corrib gas refinery in north Mayo have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

The refinery owner Vermilion Exploration & Production Ireland Ltd has confirmed that it is re-testing all 70 specialist workers, who had been engaged  for essential maintenance works at the Bellanaboy refinery.
