Kinahan murder machine ignored as Government claimed "sinister fringe" water protesters main threat to State

By:
Pat Flanagan - Irish Mirror

Labour ministers claimed THEY were under threat from water protesters a Fine Gael TD compared to Isis as sinister Kinahan cartel flooded the country with guns and drugs

If Enda Kenny considered calling out the Army to defend the ATMs and the banks why has he not ordered boots on the ground to protect the citizens of Dublin’s inner city?

There’s a very simple answer and it lies in the fact that a gang feud which has cost seven lives has little or no consequences for those who run the country.

By:
Aoife Barry - TheJournal.ie

Risteard O Domhnaill was behind the documentary The Pipe. Now he has returned with an acclaimed documentary voiced by Brendan Gleeson.

THE ATLANTIC OCEAN can be wild, dangerous, beautiful and mystical.

It provides a stunning view, a home to shoals of fish and marine life. But it also provides a livelihood for fishermen and those who trawl the sea for fish, and companies who drill for oil and gas.

Maura Harrington jailed as Vermillion earn $17million from first three months of Corrib Gas

Shell to Sea campaigner Maura Harrington was arrested in Belmullet on Friday afternoon and  jailed for 10 days in Mountjoy prison for the non-payment of a court fine of E300.
It is thought that the jailing relates to a 2012 protest attempting to block construction of the disputed development.

Ms. Harrington has continuously opposed the Corrib gas project due to health and safety concerns, environmental damage and the giveaway of Ireland's natural resources to private corporations. [1]

The jailing comes on the same day as Vermillion Energy - who owns an 18.5% share in Corrib gas - released sales figures of $17million from Corrib from the first three months of 2016. Shell to Sea activist Maura Harrington arrested over fine

By:
Mark Hilliard - Irish Times

Brother of protester says case probably relates to a 2012 offence

Maura Harrington faces 10 days in prison following her arrest over refusing to pay a fine.

Shell to Sea campaigner Maura Harrington has been arrested on foot of a warrant for the non-payment of a €300 court fine.

Ms Harrington, a spokesperson for the protest group, was arrested on Friday afternoon in Mayo and transported by gardaí to the Dochas women’s prison in Dublin where she is to serve a ten day sentence.

Speaking to the Irish Times, her brother Sean Harrington said he believes the offence which led to the imposition of the fine would have been a protest action at the Corrib plant in or around 2012, possibly using her car to block access to the facility.

“We were involved in so many different skirmishes, a lot of people ended up in court and there were a lot of spurious and nebulous charges,” he said.

“She doesn’t get phased by these things anymore. She was arrested on her way from a funeral before.”
