By:
Afri

Afri organised a protest at Shell HQ in Dublin on Nov. 10th to mark the 20th anniversary of the execution of the Ogoni 9. The execution of Ken Saro Wiwa and his colleagues was carried out by the Nigerian military dictatorship with the collusion of Shell. Shell's disregard for human rights and the environment continues in Ogoniland and elsewhere throughout the world including Erris, Co. Mayo.

Shell racks up nearly €100m loss as it waits on go-ahead for first Corrib gas

By:
Paul O'Donoghue - Irish Independent

The company behind the controversial Corrib gas project racked up losses of over €98m last year as it awaits a final government permit to begin flowing gas at the site.

Accounts just filed for Shell E&P, the Shell subsidiary managing the project in Ireland, show administrative costs amounted to €18.8m last year, down from €20.3m in 2013.

It made an operating loss of just over €26m compared to €28.5m the year before. Most of the loss was an actuarial loss that related to the firm's pension scheme.

Vermilion Energy: Euro Gas Operations Are Front And Center

By:
Michael Fitzsimmons - SeekingAlpha

Summary

The Q3 report had some good news - strong gas wells in the Netherlands - and some bad news - more delays with Corrib.

Production hit an all-time record and is expected to grow ~14% next year, while capex is reduced ~30%.

Corrib is ready to go and simply waiting on Irish approval to do so. That's 9,700 boe/d of TTF-priced natural gas (~3x NYMEX).

After a big drop in the share price, VET is yielding 6.5%, the dividend is secure, and shares are very attractive.

GLÓR NA H-AOISE - ALBUM LAUNCH CONCERT - NOVEMBER 22ND

On November 22nd at 2pm Galway city will be the location of a gala concert celebrating the release of GLÓR NA H-AOISE - SONGS OF SOLIDARITY AND RESISTANCE, a collection of music and poetry which celebrates over 15 years of struggle against Shell in Mayo and the links forged there with communities such as the Ogoni.

GLÓR NA H-AOISE - also known as the SONGS FOR ROSSPORT PROJECT - is an album of songs and poems inspired by or in support of the Shell to Sea campaign and the struggle to have the Corrib refinery relocated away from Ballinaboy. From the jailing of the Rossport Five to the sinking of Pat O'Donnell's fishing boat, from the road protests at Ballinaboy to the arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machine, the important moments and key themes of the campaign are remembered here in poem and song.

'Glór na h-Aoise' promises to be an inspirational collection which celebrates with dignity and humour the hard truths of the struggle against Shell. The concert will feature performances from John Hoban, Brendan Begley, Ronan O'Snodaigh, Fintan Vallely and Jinx Lennon to name but a few. Poets Rita Ann Higgins, Sorcha Fox, Margaretta D'arcy and Louis de Paor will recite from their contributions to the collection and actor Donal O'Kelly and storyteller Aindrias de Staic will be among those also participating in the celebrations.

The concert will take place in the Taibhdhearc theatre on Middle Street in Galway and begins at 2pm continuing through the afternoon and concluding around 5.30pm. Join us for a fantastic afternoon of music and celebration! email songsforrossport@gmail.com or phone 086 2266 786 for more info

Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Extra Judicial Death of Ken Saro-Wiwa & all the Ogoni 9

By:
Danny Dullea - 10 November 2015, Dublin Ireland

At the Doorstep of Royal Dutch Shell Headquarters in Dublin.

Independent Irish TD’s Mick Wallace & Clare Daly with Maura Harrington

Shell to Sea Activists and AFRI commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the deaths of Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni Nine outside “Corrib House:” Shell’s Irish Headquarters in Dublin. The activists carried crosses bearing the names of each of the men executed by the corrupt Nigerian Government on 10 November 1995. Many sources believe that these executions were done at the behest of Shell. Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni people, had been actively leading successful civil society actions and demonstrations thwarting Shell’s development of oil on the land of these indigenous farmers and fishermen. Even though it hasn’t been explicitly proven that Shell ordered the killing… they did benefit from the outcome and later paid reparations to the families. (In 2009 Shell settled out of court to the tune of 15.5 million dollars to the families of the victims to avoid going to court in the USA.)

Erris is Awesome - Shell is Awful

By:
Erris Abú - YouTube

In 2008 Shell began funding "Errris Beo" to "solely market and promote the Erris region" ... and participate in an awful Corrib Gas Project propaganda video that is now the subject of this parody :)
