Minister to deliver keynote speech at Oil & Gas 2013 Summit in Dublin

Against the backdrop of increased international interest in the hydrocarbon potential of Ireland’s Atlantic margin, International Research Networks is to host the Oil & Gas 2013 Summit in Dublin this week.

The agenda for the two-day summit will cover exploratory advancements, investment opportunities, operational challenges and updates on the regulations covering exploration of onshore and offshore regions.

Two investigations under way as worker dies in Corrib Tunnel construction accident

GARDAI are investigating after a worker died in an accident at the Corrib Tunnel site in Mayo early today.

The dead man is a German national who worked for Herrenknecht, a subcontractor to the company constructing the pipeline bringing gas onshore from the Atlantic Ocean

It is understood he sustained head injuries while operating a tunnel-boring machine.

Tunnelling was immediately halted at the site in Aughoose, north Mayo, after the incident shortly before 9am. Two separate investigation have begun by gardai and the Health and Safety Authority.

Man killed in industrial accident at Corrib gas tunnel

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said investigators are on their way to the scene.

A MAN HAS died in what gardaí believe was an industrial accident at the Corrib gas tunnel in Aughoose near Ballina in Co Mayo this morning.

An investigation is underway into what is being treated as an accident after the man sustained head injuries while operating a tunnel boring machine in the gas tunnel operated by Shell.

The incident happenend at around 9.45am this morning. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marine Notice: Rock Placement at Corrib Pipeline

#MarineNotice - The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has been advised that rock placement works will commence along the pipeline/umbilical route at the Corrib Gas Field development off Co Mayo.

Work will commence in mid-September and is expected to be completed within three weeks.

The works vessel is MV Stornes, operated by Van Oord Offshore (Call sign: PCKX; IMO: 9549035), which will be installing subsea rock to protect the pipeline structure.
