Shell Accused of Corrupting Irish Police Force

OSSL claim that their company was a supplier to Shell in respect of the Corrib Gas Project. They allege that acting on Shell’s instructions, OSSL has distributed bribes on Shell’s behalf to parties connected with the project, including the Irish police force (the Garda) who have been the subject of serious accusations of wrong doing by environmental activists protesting against the project. The main accusation being that the Garda has acted as an offshoot of Shell security.

SELF-EXPLANATORY EMAIL FROM JOHN DONOVAN TO LINDA SZYMANSKI, CHIEF ETHICS & COMPLIANCE OFFICER, ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC

From: John Donovan <john@shellnews.net>
Subject: OSSL Ireland

Dear Ms Szymanski

I am writing to you in your capacity as Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer of Royal Dutch Dutch Plc.

In case you are not already aware, I want to formally bring to your attention allegations made by an Irish company OSSL against Shell EP Ireland.

OSSL allege that invoices have been falsified on Shell’s instructions to cover-up what has been going on.

This week, OSSL has provided what they claim is an authentic invoice to Shell dated 24 August 2012 amounting to over €35,000 for alcohol allegedly given as a corrupt payment to the Garda. Senior Garda officers are named on the invoice.

Niall Harnett Memorial Video

By:
Brendan Walsh - YouTube

This video was put together to show at a memorial service for Niall.

I used an image of the beautiful drawing by Aaron as the thumbnail because as Carol said on the night "it captures him so well". I treasure my print of it.

I have left the video as unlisted in the hope it remains up - pass it on by word of mouth to all his friends

Our rich resources

By:
Ann Brennan - Letter in the Sunday Independent

Vast quantities of gas and oil have been discovered under Irish waters in the Atlantic Ocean over the past 15 years.

The Government puts the value of these reserves at €420,000,000,000 – but this is a very conservative estimate. The real figure is likely to be much higher. Ireland is giving away vast quantities of our resources. Will someone please STOP THIS!

Speculating the Emerald Isle

By:
BBC Radio 4

[Shell to Sea] Although this half hour show on BBC Radio 4 gives more time to pro-oil company views than the counter point of view, it is still a most informative piece of radio.  Why does it take the BBC to come over and discuss Irish natural resources?
